Battlesteads. Originally built as a farmstead in 1747, this four-star Inn and Restaurant features a cosy bar with open fire, sunny walled beer-garden, good choice of wines, 3 cask ales and a wide range of bottle conditioned beers from local micro-breweries.
The restaurant offers a wide range of meals and snacks freshly prepared in Battlesteads’ own kitchens. Chefs source the best of local ingredients to ensure freshness and flavour, including game and Cheviot reared lamb as well as prime Northumbrian Angus beef. Fish and seafood are sourced from North Shields Fish Quay. Vegetarian choices are always available.
A range of traditional roast dinners featuring locally reared beef, lamb and pork are available at the popular Sunday Carvery, all at set prices.

The Barrasford Arms The bar is a time capsule with real hand pulled ale and a true bastion of traditional village values. Guests can enjoy their meals in the unpretentious dining room that seats 40 with ease and which overlooks the impressive fourteenth century Haughton Castle. Traditional bar food and sandwiches are served in either bar or the adjacent rustic black beamed lounge.
Speciality steaks are provided by local butchers ensuring only the best pasture fed Northumbria beef is served. Home boiled Hams are topped with a unique mustard and sugar crust before being finished in the oven. The local giant rolls are in great demand, especially when used to make oversized prawn and mayonnaise sandwiches.
