Converted from an
18th Century farmstead, this four-star Inn and Restaurant provides a
warm welcome to residents and non-residents alike, with a traditional
character and friendly atmosphere combining to make a memorable stay.
The 14 bedrooms
have been carefully modernised to provide comfortable accommodation,
all rooms are en-suite and have colour television with freeview, DVD,
ironing boards, and hairdryer. Four rooms specifically for visitors
with disabilities are on the ground floor and close to parking spaces.
For laptop users, internet access is available in all rooms.
The traditional
Northumbrian bar features a cosy open fire, excellent bar meals and
a la carte menus (including vegetarian) using fresh, local produce,
good choice of wines, 3 cask ales and a wide range of bottle conditioned
beers from local micro-breweries.
The restaurant
offers a wide range of meals and snacks freshly prepared in Battlesteads’
own kitchens. Chefs source the best of local ingredients to ensure freshness
and flavour, including game and Cheviot reared lamb as well as prime
Northumbrian Angus beef. Fish and seafood are sourced from North Shields
Fish Quay. Vegetarian choices are always available. Residents with special
dietary needs are welcome to discuss their requirements with the chef.
Meals, snacks and
sandwiches are available throughout the day, with both a set menu and
'Chalk Board' specials, which change weekly, those with a sweet tooth
should check out the mouthwatering home-made desserts. Packed lunches
are available for residents and, for sunny summer days, there is a large
walled beer garden.
