Dukes Cottages Bed & Breakfast

Dukes Cottages Bed & Breakfast was originally a 17th century byre that was later converted into a worker’s cottage belonging to the Duke of Northumberland’s estate. It offers all modern conveniences whilst retaining attractive period features.

The cottages are in the village of Ovingham, near Heddon-on-the-Wall. As such they make an ideal base for that section of the Hadrian’s Wall Path. By prior arrangement, we are pleased to offer a complimentary pick up/drop off for walkers at Heddon-on-the-Wall.

We currently offer two spacious twin bedrooms, each comprising two single beds and a new en suite bathroom. Amenities include a dressing table/work desk, colour TV, hairdryer, full length mirror, gas central heating, heated towel rail and tea/coffee making facilities.

In the morning you get a good start to the day with a full cooked breakfast and a selection of cereals, toast, yogurt and seasonal fresh fruit. If you are keen to get on the road first thing, you are welcome to request an early breakfast time.

For walkers we can provide packed lunches, drying facilities and a complimentary pick up/drop off at Heddon-on-the-Wall to make your Hadrian’s Wall walking experience that little bit more enjoyable.

During the warmer months, a walled cottage garden to the rear of the house offers a pleasant place to relax after a hard day’s work or walking.

Although we do not provide evening meals, bar food is available within a 10 minute walk and there is a wide choice of restaurants in the neighbouring town of Prudhoe.
