Come and
enjoy the High House Farm Brewery
The brewery was
founded in 2003 by fourth generation farmer, Steven Urwin, on the 200
acre family farm in Grade II listed converted farm buildings.
Since the beers
initial launch at the 2003 Tyneside Beer Festival, demand and praise
for these traditional ales throughout the region has been very strong
indeed – proof if ever it was needed, that the true beer enthusiast
appreciates quality above all else.
The beers have won
awards including CAMRA Regional Awards and SIBA Regional and National
Awards. Nel’s Best, our best selling ale, has been one of 8 finalists
in the Champion Beer of Britain Awards in 2003 and 2006. The brewery
now produce six real ales in casks and four in bottles.
Visit
the brewery, take the Real Ale Tour and learn how beer is made.
Take a stroll and
see the farm and a large diversity of wildlife. On the farm footpath
you might see foxes, badgers, red squirrels, deer, hares, weasels and
stoats, hedgehogs and bats. Bird wildlife includes tawny owls and barn
owls, heron, sparrowhawks and buzzards.
Visit
our brewery exhibition and shop.
Open every day 10.30
to 5.00 pm, but the centre is closed on Wednesdays.
