Langley Castle Hotel is a 14th Century castle nestling in the Northumbrian valley of the South Tyne. Built in 1350, during the reign of Edward III, the castle has retained its architectural integrity and is regarded as one of the few medieval fortified Castle Hotels in England.

Set in its own ten acre woodland estate, the castle's 7 feet thick walls provide a peaceful and tranquil refuge in which to escape from today's hustle and bustle to a bygone age.

The guest rooms are individually unique, all with private facilities, some with four-poster beds, sauna and spa bath.

Guest Rooms

The eighteen guest rooms, all with private facilities, are luxuriously appointed. Some have private features such as a four-poster bed and a window seat set in the 7ft thick castle walls. Although the Castle itself was built in 1350, the sauna and spa bath in some rooms mean that your stay with us won't be memorable for the privations of medieval times, but for the comfort of the 20th century without its pressures.

A Wedding Venue of Medieval Splendour

In selecting Langley Castle as the venue for your wedding reception, you will be choosing one of England’s only genuine, fortified, 14th Century Castle Hotels. Overlooking the South Tyne valley, the Castle is set in a ten acre woodland estate with rolling lawns and gardens. Langley Castle has been lovingly restored and refurbished to provide every modern comfort set amidst genuine medieval splendour. In doing so, the Castle has achieved 4 star accreditation with the ETC (Silver Award), RAC (three Dining Awards, The White Ribbon Award) and AA. Langley has also been awarded the Pride of Northumbria title of “Best Small Hotel of the Year 2002” and again in 2004.

Restaurant

The Josephine Restaurant offers an intimate atmosphere, with stone alcoves and candlelight. The four course Table d'Hôte menu offers exceptionally well prepared and presented fare, featuring continental as well as local and regional dishes. Fresh fish and locally caught game are a speciality.

The main menu itself is complemented with a vegetarian section and also a "supplementary" menu which offers slightly more expensive and unusual dishes. The dessert menu has become renowned in local circles, with our own "Chocolate, Cointreau Truffle cake" becoming an irreplaceable option.

The wine list has an excellent range and extends from our "House" wines through to a Chateau Lafitte 1971.

Conference Facilities

Five flexible Meeting and Conference Rooms offering facilities for between 4-12 and 20-130 delegates.
