Southlands Farm Cottages

Holiday cottages with a difference in the farming village of Gunnerton , deep in Roman Wall country, 8 miles from Hexham, and 40 minutes drive from Newcastle and Carlisle. The village is surrounded by beautiful countryside, footpaths and bridleways and the welcoming pub is a short walk to the next hamlet.

The cottages were developed from an 18th century byre and granary and sympathetically retain many original features and the historic feel combined with very comfortable and high spec modern building design. These comfortable cottages work equally well individually or taken together to accommodate larger groups.

All three cottages form part of one traditional Northumbrian sandstone building, with a paved patio area outside including original feed troughs overflowing with cottage flowers. Each cottage has its own front door leading into its open plan ground floor space.

East Cottage. (Sleeps 4) Glazed front door, open plan double height sitting room comfortably seating 6, log fireplace, well-equipped kitchen with dining table seating 6. Spiral staircase to first floor. 1 double bedroom and en-suite bathroom (bath). 1 twin bedroom with mezzanine balcony over sitting room. Spacious wet room.

Middle Cottage. (Sleeps 2) Glazed double front door, sitting room with wood-burning fire; kitchen dining area. Staircase to1 galleried double bedroom with en-suite bathroom.

West Cottage. (Sleeps 4) Two sets of glazed double doors, sitting room with wood burning fireplace; kitchen including dining table seating six. Central staircase to 1 double bedroom and 1 twin bedroom. Both bedrooms have en-suite bathrooms including shower and bath.

The parking area is immediately beside the cottages.

One Visitor's Comments

This is the ideal rural retreat. The cottage was warm and cosy with lashings of hot water for when we returned from our long country walks. The local pub served great food and the location was great, Corbridge has a great dress shop too! We had a fantastic holiday. Thank you
